I commissioned an art piece as a gift to my sister for her wedding in 2023. Daniel was able to take a picture of my father who passed away in 2017, and created the celebratory image with the backdrop of the wedding location. Our son Jeffrey, who was 18, was killed on his motorcycle down in Southern California while attending Calvary Chapel Bible College. Our hearts were broken, but God comforted us with His continual steadfast love. I asked The Lord to help me have a painting done of Jeffrey and Jesus on Jeffrey’s first day in Heaven. My sweet nice Callie commissioned Daniel, who was friend from college, to paint “Finally…Face to Face”. Truly a priceless treasure. As a surprise for my wife, Magdalena, I commissioned Daniel to create a large portrait of her father to be displayed at our lake house. Having the painting done right was paramount. Her father had passed away just years before and one of his favorite places was Lake Shasta.
For our entire family the lake has been a place to make lifelong memories and being there without him has been a difficult process. Especially because he had initiated the tradition of holding an annual family reunion on that lake.
I talked the project over with Daniel and he asked for a picture that best described those great times with Marko. I knew immediately which photo we had to recreate. What he created from that one photo is nothing short of breathtaking.
From the outset anyone can look at one of his paintings and understand the brilliance behind every brush stroke. Thousands and thousands of perfectly placed and well thought out brush strokes adding up to one beautiful piece of artwork. However, that might not be the most amazing aspect of Daniel’s talent. What amazes me and Magdalena the most is his ability to capture the feeling of the original observer and maybe more importantly the subject of the painting.
When we finally unveiled the finished work for my wife everyone in the room was brought to tears. It was truly a magic moment. I still get emotional thinking about it to this day.
The painting now hangs in our lake house and is the first thing every person sees as they enter our home. It serves as a reminder of what an amazing person Marko was and why we cherish and hold tight to all of our family memories.
Daniel brought that to life for us and we cannot express enough gratitude for having him as a friend and knowing him as a profound artist.
